Valentine’s Day is not just a special occasion for couples, but it can also be a time for single individuals to celebrate self-love and self-care.
We have been there where you are single and on the 14th of February and are bombarded with social media posts from couples enjoying their day. While the day of love is heavily marketed for couples in love, being single doesn’t exclude you from celebrating Valentine’s Day. Love is exhibited in many forms and not necessarily only in the form of a relationship. The love you show for yourself is the most profound love and the relationship with one’s self is one of the most powerful forms of love.
As the single girlie Editor, I have celebrated Valentine’s Day in many forms. I take it as an opportunity to pour into myself and book a spa day for myself and a single friend. We take pictures, buy each other flowers, and end the day eating at one of the top restaurants of our choice. By the end of the day, you feel rejuvenated and tend to your body and mind in a way that you may have neglected.
With the single girlie in mind, here are my top tips on how you can practice self-love this Valentine’s Day:
- Treat yourself to a spa day – Have a relaxing massage, facial, or bubble bath.
- Travel – Take a solo trip to a place you’ve always wanted to visit or go on a road trip with friends.
- Write a love letter to yourself – Express gratitude for yourself and all you’ve accomplished.
- Galetine’s Day- Go to a nice restaurant with friends, get the camera out, take cute pictures over a beautiful dinner, relish in good conversation, and create memories with your girlfriends. You can even incorporate a gift exchange with your girlfriends.
- Get your hair and nails done – Pamper yourself. It seems to be so simple but this simple act can have you looking and feeling your best. Try going for a simple red manicure or french tip with a pink overlay to have your hands looking *chefs kiss*.
- Buy yourself something nice – This can be a good cup of coffee from a local coffee shop, a new vase to put flowers in that you got for yourself, or a new outfit you have been eyeing. Adding an intention with a purpose can have you feeling great and is one of the most incredible acts of self-love.
Remember, Valentine’s Day is about love and appreciation, not just for romantic partners but for oneself and all the essential people in your life. Celebrate yourself, your achievements, and everything you love about being single.
