08 Dec Winter 22/23 is all about the Après-ski trend
They say it takes roughly 2 years to see runway trends trickle down to mainstream popularity. If we look back to 2020, fashion houses centered ideas around escapism, mother nature and the great outdoors in their collections. During a time where the world was shutdown and confined into isolation, a call back to nature in society was sparked. People generally would go for walks, meet at parks, picnic gatherings and eventually evolved into full blown outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing and tennis to name a few. We seen this everywhere from music, entertainment, movies, and fashion. In 2020, Drake released his visuals for his music video “war” brilliantly showcasing the Lance Mackey collab with Canada Goose while wearing various Moncler outfits in a ski themed music video. That same year, Bravo introduced their latest Real Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, filmed during their snowy months with the women seen wearing full-out ski looks from brands like Fendi, Chanel, La double J, Cordova, and Rossignol. With that said, aesthetics like #gorpcore, #cottagecore and #skicore have reigned supreme that year trailblazing an overwhelming amount of collaborations and collections. Fast forward to today, we are seeing the influence that was introduced into the market roughly 2 years ago with Zara latest Ski collection and Reformation x Canada goose collaborations, the Apres-ski trend is unescapable.
